My Journey Into Modeling: From Kozhikode to the Camera

Sep 6, 2026

Everyone has a unique path to their passion. If you ask most models how they started, they might talk about being scouted at a mall or dreaming about the runway since childhood. My model story in Kozhikode is a bit different. I didn't start in front of the camera; I started firmly behind a computer screen.

The Graphic Design Foundation

My journey into the creative world began with graphic design. I spent years studying composition, color theory, and visual balance. I learned what makes an image striking and how negative space can tell a story. While designing posters and branding materials for local businesses in Kerala, I constantly had to search for high-quality stock images. Often, I found myself frustrated because the available images lacked the authentic, local feel of Calicut that my clients needed.

Stepping in Front of the Lens

The transition happened organically. During a project where we desperately needed a relatable, local face for a campaign, I stepped in as a placeholder. The photographer and I worked together, and because of my design background, I intuitively understood how to pose to complement the framing and lighting. The photos turned out brilliantly, and the client loved them. That was the spark.

Building a Portfolio in Kerala

From that moment, I realized that my understanding of visual aesthetics (from design and video editing) gave me a unique advantage as a model. I knew exactly what the photographer needed without them having to say it. I began collaborating with talented local photographers across Kozhikode, building a diverse portfolio that ranged from commercial lifestyle shoots to intricate fashion concepts.

Today, my model story in Kozhikode is one of continuous evolution. I love that I get to bring a multifaceted perspective to every set I step onto. I am not just a subject; I am a collaborator invested in the final visual product.
